What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy, a long utilised and traditional medicine is becoming more and more popular in the west, especially when combined with deep tissue sports massages and as a wider rehabilitation programme. IW are pleased to be able to offer this service to those that visit our clinic, but also at homes and businesses across the area.

So, What is It?

Cupping therapy refers to the practice of applying heated cups to a client’s skin, usually the back, in order to create a vacuum. In turn, this vacuum encourages the natural healing processes of the body, forcing white blood cells to rush to the area.

As an application, cupping therapy is great for those tricky to get knots, to relieve inflammation, pain, and in order to help with blood flow. Client’s that have experienced cupping therapy have reported an enhanced feeling of relaxation and an improvement in overall well-being.

How Often Can I Have Cupping Therapy?

It is widely agreed that cupping therapy works best with monthly maintenance sessions, in order to best prolong the benefits to the body. This being said, cupping therapy is also great as a one-off tool for practitioners to use when necessary during deep tissue massages.
